Mark Simonson (born 1955) is an American independent font designer who works in St. Paul, Minnesota. Simonson has described his fonts as often being inspired by lettering styles of the past, such as the graphic design of the 1970s and Art Deco graphics. Simonson's most popular font is Proxima Nova (1994, revised 2005),. Proxima Soft (2017) is a rounded version of Proxima Nova. With the same forty-eight styles (eight weights in three widths, plus italics), Proxima Soft fits the bill when you want something a bit warmer and more playful than its older sibling. Proxima Nova family (Mark Simonson fonts) contains 144 fonts. The Proxima Nova family is a complete reworking of Proxima Sans (1994). The original six fonts (three weights with italics) have been expanded to 48 full-featured OpenType fonts.
